I T S F I N E

poster by photo source

we all get burnt out. freelance life is go go go. and then go some more. and certain mornings, you just don't feel like going anymore at all. there will be days
(maybe even weeks) where i feel a lost, tired and uninspired. i'm sure you know the feeling i'm talking about. but one thing i've noticed, is the inspiration always comes back if it's something you love. and i truly do love graphic design. i know this because i notice the typography on the side of the street, on the menus where i am eating lunch... and then that design bug shows it's face once again.

so go ahead, get lost. get burnt out. it's fine, it will be back soon enough.

thanks for the encouragement, I was raging through major burnout as a freelancer lately too.

this is well written :) i love it! i had one of those days today, where i just couldn't get on the computer as much as i should have.

but of course, as soon as i step anywhere, i can't help but check out the design no matter what. ;)

xx

It's cool to know that other creative folks deal with the burn out here and there. I was feeling a bit lost too this week and then someone asked me a simple design question today. After talking their ear off for about an hour, it struck me how intense and into it I sounded/was. I forget sometimes why I decided to do my own thing - it's nice when the reminders pop up.

I am right with you sista! I am still working my "real" job and freelancing, and holy cow -- sometimes it just isn't in the cards for the day ... or week ... or weeks ;-) But you said it best, it always comes back and I know because of the things I notice; a never ending scene of inspiration!

bri! thank you for being so real!

i think we all feel this way in the design world and it's so great to hear it from those who inspire us. (which you do to so many designers!)

so thanks again for always being optimistic yet down to earth.

love your blog!

this is actually why i choose to freelance - so i can go, go, go. there is nothing worse (in my mind) than being stagnant.

good to see other designers also struggle & lose inspiration, but get backup again.

I needed to hear this today! Thank you Bri! I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets to feeling this way at times.

How can anyone lose hope when there's so many others to share the burden of being uninspired?

Thanks so much for this..

OH MY WORD. This post was EXACTLY what I was needing this week. Feeling utterly exhausted and minimally inspired. Thanks for the reminder Bri, that the it will all be back soon. You rock!
