For a while now I have been thinking of new columns I could start in order to bring more original content to DLF! (let's all do the originality dance) I love doing round-ups (my love grew deeper when I designed the shopping pages for Rue Magazine!) and I love featuring creative people! Let's just join em together, why don't we? let's get this party started.
So, today I am hoping to start a new column called "Day in the Life." It will feature a few favorite items from people in the industry, giving you a little glimpse of their personal lives. To kick it off, I thought it would be fun to do a little blog switch!
Anne from The City Sage is crashing at my house right now, so she chose the items for my Day in the Life of Bri post; and I chose the items for her Day in the Life of Anne (we think we know each other real well!)
Oh, and instead of making people do a bio or description of all the items (writing doesn't always come easy, does it?!) I'm just going to ask a different random question for each person! That fun starts next week.
What we have here are the items Anne thought I would like, and boy was she right! You wanna buy somethin? (uhhhh, yeah!) The links are at the bottom, folks! Make sure to go check out the items I chose for her!
i give you a look inside my creative space over HERE on sfgirlbybay today! see where I spend long days (and even longer nights!) it's so important to stay inspired and love the area you work in! spice up your creative space with some how-to tips & links! go on!
and here we have a simple + punchy space shot by eric roth
i am HOME. and guess what? i'm WORKING! and it feels awesome. so I did the whole sleep and relax thing, but now I am excited to start hitting the ground running again. this isn't my home, it's a New York apartment out of Elle Decor, but I sure wish it was mine:
i have rounded up a few holiday faves for you to go spend your holiday dollars on! i will be leaving for the san diego tonight for some much needed r&r. and plenty of mashed potatoes! happy holidays to you all & see you back here on monday! (unless of course i feel withdraws and decide to post before that)
we are done. DONE! you hear that!? (doing a really ridiculous dance around my living room right now) RUE MAGAZINE is live. go on, go check it out! let me know what you think of our little sophomore issue! growing up so fast...i am going to go nap with my eyes open now. be back tomorrow!
ok people. it's time for me to go into work overdrive. and then sunday night when Rue Issue #2 launches we all throw confetti in the air and cheers each other in fancy dresses. and by dresses i mean fancy pajamas. sound like a plan? alright. see you there.
i thought this was sweet. a father and his 6 year old son came together and made this awesome poster and then Beast Pieces printed it. letterpress. fancy kid drawings are cool. so is that what the kids get nowadays? first cell phones at age 9, and now they get letterpressed artwork at 6? woah.
two more days till the rue magazine launch. sooo, i figured I would double up one of my favorite little fuzzy art pieces by ines christine. and make them hold hands and tell you happy friday too, of course!
the ace halloween fun continues! i loved every second of looking through these Amelia Lyon photos of the party! i felt like i was back there doin some sick dance moves to whatever the flashdance was spinnin, listening to sharkpig rap, and twirling around like a ballerina with my fellow marie antionette.
oh wait, i don't have to be sad at all! the fun continues when we all attend Hitched in January! cool.
i am on another level busy for the next three days. count em' 1, 2 andddd 3. blastoff. i am sorry my posting will be a little less than usual. but i gotta design this magazine by sunday, yo.
in the meantime, here are some photos of my holga hottie. did you like that nickname? cheesy right? just the way i like it. and also some photos from kel's disposable camera from the Ace Hotel weekend of fun and magic.
i can't even tell you how much fun it's been working on the {closet & casa} column over at Oh Joy! It is always a surprise to see what people are going to pick from their lives to feature. My heart still jumps a little bit when I get someone's photos in my inbox. Today Alison Sudol, the singer of A Fine Frenzy was feautured. you know, the girl that has made me want to dye my hair red like right this very instant? I was lucky enough to have my friend Angela shoot some fantastic ethereal shots of the (now blonde) beauty...it is a must-see!
here is a photo of alison that i just really like the colors in:
i like to think of Zara & fall as friends. they always have such great coats especially! and so affordable too. When I stumbled upon their November lookbook, i was liking every bit of it! so refined & stylish.
i have been working 'round the clock on the design for the holiday issue of Rue Magazine. this thing launches on sunday (!!!!), and I wouldn't lie to you, it is FULL of all sorts of awesome. we are jumping up and down excited (while scrambling like crazy birds) for our issue #2 launch! we promise to bring the heat.
and lucky you! here is a never before seen sneak peak inside!
so, this makes me laugh. i am laughing while I write this right now. Joy told me I was "very expressive" one day, and i said, "duh, i was a child model." she giggled and told me that I must post those photos. So here they are. I wish i still had work-out gear that fierce.
