W E E K L Y / M U S I C

1. “sweet disposition” (temper trap) – lucky enough to see the band live a few weeks ago at san francisco’s outside lands music festival, temper trap does a phenomenal job of illuminating all instrumentation without overpowering lead singer dougy’s lyrics. hailing from australia, they are sure to be around for a long, long time.

2. “a love song” (amanda blank) – a favorite of mine since amanda blank came onto the music scene, the use of ll cool j’s “i need love” is done wisely, adding a touch of tempo & a lot of hip.

3. “got till it’s gone” (janet jackson, joni mitchell, q-tip) – sister of the late, great, michael jackson, janet never fails to hit the mark with her soothing voice and dope beats. This particular song combines q-tip’s essence of hip-hop, joni mitchell’s catchy hook & a touch of r&b from janet. win / win / win.
